When you are searching for something to your cas, sometimes it’s usefull to know what is the code of the engine.

You have two options to easily retrieve the engine code of your car:

1. Look in your service book. On the first you’ll have a black and white sticker.
2. Look in your spare tyre well, and you’ll find the same black and white sticker.

All you need to know to service your 2001, 2002, 2003 Audi A3, A4, A4 Cabrio, A6, A8, TT, TT Cabrio S4, S6, S8, A6 AllRoad (including Avant body type and Quattro transmissions) with Petrol engines – 1.6, 1.8, 1.8T, 2.0, 2.4L V6, 2.7L V6, 2.8L V6, 3.0L V6 and 4.2L V8 – according to the Official Audi Scheduled Service Plan / Servicing Plan / Maintenance Plan.

This guide is for Petrol engines ONLY produced in years 2001, 2002 and 2003. For other engines, models or years, click here.

All the information in this article is in accordance with the Servicing Schedule Plan specified by Audi. Nevertheless, you should allways confirm with your car owners manual before any servicing.

Every 15.000 kms / 10.000 miles schedule service interval:

1. Change engine oil and oil filter
2. Cooling system – Check level and re-fill if necessary
3. Exhaust System – check for damage and leaks
4. Engine OBD – Check existing errors and act accordingly. Reset after checking.
5. Door Hinge Mechanisms – lubricate
6. Battery – check electrolyte and re-fill if necessary
7. Wiper/Washer – check fluid and re-fill if necessary
8. Automatic Shift Lock – check
9. Manual Transmission – check shift and interlock
10. Tires and Spare – check condition and pressure
11. Reset the Service Reminder Indicator
12. Check brake pads and brake discs wear
13. Drive Shaft Boots – check condition
14. Exterior lights: Check all lights and replace if needed.

Aditionally, every 30.000 kms / 20.000 miles schedule service interval:
1. Engine – check for oil and coolant leaks
2. Front Axle – check dust seals, ball joints, tie-rod ends
3. Automatic Transmission – check for leaks
4. Automatic Transmission Final Drive – check for leaks
5. Manual Transmission – check for leaks
6. Manual Transmission Final Drive – check for leaks
7. Dust and Pollen Filter – replace
8. Headlights – inspect and adjust if necessary
9. Sliding Roof – clean and lubricate rails
10. If TT / A3 Quattro – Haldex Clutch, change oil and filter

Aditionally, every 60.000 kms / 40.000 miles schedule service interval:
1. Multitronic™ Transmission – change ATF
2. Power Steering Fluid – check, add if necessary
3. Spark Plugs – replace
4. Air Cleaner – replace filter element, clean screen

Aditionally, every 120.000 kms / 80.000 miles schedule service interval:

Cautions:
– Screws coated with locking fluid or sealant must always be replaced with new screws during reinstallation.
– Screws coated with a locking fluid or self locking nuts must be replaced with new when reinstalled.

How To Reset OIL or INSP message in Audi A4 B5 (1994 to 2001)

For reset the OIL message that appears in your Audi A4 B5 dash panel odometer screen, follow the instructions:

 For 1994 to 1999 cars:

Step 1. Insert your key into the ignition (do not turn it)
Step 2. Push in the odometer reset button (right button), hold it pressed, and turn the key to the first click.
Step 3. In the display, “oil” or “service” or “insp” should now be shown. If it does not, repeat steps 1. and 2.
Step 4. To reset, pull out your instrument light dimmer button at the bottom of the tachometer. (—— are now displayed)
Step 5. Turn the ignition to the off position. When the ignition is turned back on, the display should be back to the trip odometer.

For 2000 to 2001 cars:

Step 1. Insert your key into the ignition (do not turn it)
Step 2. Push in the odometer reset button (right button), hold it pressed, and turn the key to the first click.

How To Service Message Reset in Audi A4 B6 (2000 to 2006)

For reset the “SERVICE” or “SERVICE IN … ” message indicator that appears in your Audi A4 B6, Sedan, Avant or Cabriolet dash instrument cluster center screen, follow the instructions:

Step 1.  Press and hold the service button (button with a spanner icon on it).
Step 2. Turn on the ignition, with the service button still pressed.
Step 3. When Service appears again in the screen, press the “0,0”audi_a4_b6_service_light_reset button until the display resets and shows —.

And that’s it, your service message indicator should be off and a new service interval has been set.
