How to replace remote fob battery in Audi A8 (D3)

This tutorial explains how to replace the key fob battery in Audi A8 D3 (2003 – 2010), with key fob pictured below.

– Battery operation in the master key is monitored by a check light . The check light flashes when one of the buttons on the master key is pressed.
– If the check light does not flash, the battery is dead and has to be replaced .
– When the battery is dead the symbol appears in the instrument cluster display as well as the message: “Please change key battery”.


To replace remote fob battery you’ll need:

– new CR2032 3v battery (one battery)

 

In order to replace it, follow the steps:

Step 1: Press the release button (green arrow) to open key.

Step 2: Pry the cover (red arrow) with your fingers, as shown in image (A).

Step 3: You’ll now see the battery. Remove the old battery, making note of their orientation, and replace with new one.

Step 4: Re-install battery, and after it the key blade.

Battery orientation is with the (+) side up.

The instructions in this tutorial will work in the following model years:
– Audi A8 D3 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010
