All you need to know to service your Audi A4 B5, A6 C5 and A8 D2 (years 1997 to 2000) with petrol engines, according to the Official Audi Service Schedule Interval Plan / Scheduled Maintence Servicing.

All the information in this article is in accordance with the Service Schedule Intervals Plan specified by Audi. Nevertheless, you should allways confirm with your car owners manual before any servicing.

Every one year or 12.000 kms / 7.500 miles schedule service interval:

  1. Change engine oil and oil filter
  2. Check Fluid Levels
  3. Clean Plenum Water Valve
  4. Check Auto-Shift Lock
  5. Reset the service reminder
  6. Manual transmission – check shift and clutch interlock

Additionally every 24.000 km / 15.000 miles schedule service interval:

  1. Check Battery level
  2. Replace Dust/Pollen Filter
  3. Checking and adjusting the level Cooling System
  4. Checking and adjusting Wiper & Washer System
  5. Gearbox, power train, drive shafts – check for oil leaks and play – In event of leakage from the gearbox, check the gearbox oil level
  6. Clean and lube rails of Sliding Roof
  7. Check lubricant on Transmission Final Drive(s)
  8. Check Brake System
  9. Check DTC memory – OBD
  10. Exterior lights: Check all lights and replace if needed

Additionally every 48.000 km / 30.000 miles schedule service interval:

  1. Replace the engine Air filter cleaner (ACL) and clean the engine air filter housing
  2. Replace the Engine Spark Plugs
  3. Replace the Brake Oil fluid
  4. Change Oil Haldex clutch, only Audi TT Quattro
  5. Replace  Spark Plugs

When you are searching for something to your cas, sometimes it’s usefull to know what is the code of the engine.

You have two options to easily retrieve the engine code of your car:

1. Look in your service book. On the first you’ll have a black and white sticker.
2. Look in your spare tyre well, and you’ll find the same black and white sticker.

This sticker have severall information regarding your car (engine code, gearbox code,  paint code, trim code and all the option codes).

The engine code is the first information on the 4th line (highlighted in red in the image  on the left).
